J.L. SCHWIETERS MANUFACTURING

Industrial | New Construction | 144,000 SF | Hugo, MN

J. L. Schwieters Construction, a family-owned building supply company specializing in framing and truss construction, needed assistance in building a new warehouse/manufacturing facility across the street from their current location.

They needed to have the first $9M phase of this project substantially completed by the end of the calendar year to comply with a 1031 Exchange requirement and needed to have $3M of manufacturing equipment installed and operating to comply with a tax incentive requirement by the end of that same year. With careful planning and the hard work of the project team, Welsh accomplished both of these goals between July 6 and December 31, 2018.

With the strict timeline, the project team relied heavily on teamwork to keep this project on track, without compromising craftsmanship, time, design or ultimately, our client’s expectations. Despite the delay of the precast wall panels being delivered three weeks late, the team found a way to keep the project on schedule by modifying the project’s construction sequencing. Welsh also provided a design assist service to the client and architect to ensure the project was delivered on-time and within budget.

This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is one of only three in the United States that utilizes the latest technology in roof truss manufacturing equipment.
