SOJOURNER TRUTH ACADEMY

Education | Renovation | 42,000 SF | Minneapolis, MN

In May 2011, a tornado tore through North Minneapolis, leaving more than a half-million dollars’ worth of damage to Sojourner Truth Academy. When NBC Universal’s “George to the Rescue” television program contacted Welsh to participate in a surprise repair project, we were more than happy to help the school get back on its feet.

While construction crews had been working through the summer to repair the school, the cafeteria area still needed a full renovation. Welsh worked with local and national vendors including Martha O’Hara Interiors, Best Buy, and 3M Co. to renovate the cafeteria from floor to ceiling. With the final missing piece of their rebuild in place, Sojourner Truth Academy was able to return to normal operations for the 2012 school year.
