Field Superintendent

Welsh Construction (Welsh) is seeking a professional, self-driven Field Superintendent with a minimum of five (5) years of supervision experience in commercial construction to join our growing Welsh team. 

Responsibilities include the efficient, safe, cost-effective, and timely start-up and jobsite management of each project as it relates to the activities in the field. This position will manage field forces and oversee trade partner work from project start-up through completion, as it relates to field activities including the following: Schedule subcontractors, supervise the placement ​of manpower, coordinate delivery of materials and utilization of equipment for the successful completion of awarded projects on time, at or under budget, to meet Welsh standards, and to meet client specifications and satisfaction. This position also serves as an advisor and resource for technical challenges identified in the field. This is a highly visible position both within Welsh as well as in the local construction community and must represent Welsh in the forefront of construction operations and management.

Key Responsibilities:

START STRONG:

  • Responsible for implementing, enforcing, and managing all local, state, and federal safety laws and regulations as well as the Welsh Construction Safety and AWAIR Programs on assigned projects. Conduct weekly jobsite safety meetings. Participate in Safety Committee events as assigned.

  • Layout and set up of all assigned Welsh projects, as well as review of job plan for each project. Inspect job site, project plan, and material lists to initiate the project. Attend job startup meetings as required.

  • Review of project scope, all engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, materials, and other conditions on assigned company projects to ensure the smooth flow of work and on-time completion.

  • Assist, as necessary, with review of bid packages, pre-bid walkthroughs, and the preparation of estimates with Project Manager.

STAY STRONG:

  • Interact with Project Manager for scheduling, manpower, and other project issues daily to keep the Project Manager apprised of job progress and any changes to the scope of work.

  • Daily review of schedules, productivity, costs, change orders, work quality, etc.

  • Schedule and coordinate the work of all subcontractors assigned to the project as well as any Welsh Construction carpenters, laborers, or other employees assigned to them.

  • Enforce Company policies and procedures on the jobsite.

  • Order supplies, materials, tools, and equipment to meet the schedule of assigned project(s).

  • Ensure that reports and communications from the field are accurate, complete, and timely.

  • Work with the appropriate city resources regarding jobsite issues and code compliance.

  • Recognize and communicate to Project Manager performance issues with subcontractor trade partners and assist in forming an action plan for correction.

  • Ensure the job sites are kept clean, organized, and relatively free of debris and scrap to reflect a professional working area and promote a good, safe first impression.

  • Be responsible for proper safe use, cleaning, and security of all Welsh owned equipment and tools.

FINISH STRONG:

  • Be responsible for project closure, including conducting a final walkthrough, minimizing, and managing a punch list, and timely coordination to complete all punch list items.

  • Ensure productivity standards are met and that projects are completed as designed on time, and at or under budget. Ensure that projects meet company standards for quality as well as client specifications and satisfaction.

  • Maintain confidentiality of company business, subcontractor, and personnel issues.

  • Serve as a resource to Welsh staff including Project Managers and the Field Coordinator for technical, productivity, work design, and resource problems relating to Welsh Projects.
